“ BYOB to The Boathouse! Stopped in to The Boathouse Restaurant on a Sunday evening right before sunset. Beautiful landscape overlooking the water the sunset did cause a lot of the tables and patrons to be looking into the sun which was a little of a minor annoyance as I had to wear my sunglasses during dinner. Staff was very nice though and the open view was nice to have despite the sunlight. Parking wasn't too bad either, though it is towards the end of a street that opens up to the bay, so there was a fair amount of people parked there who were just enjoying the beach area. We ordered the appetizer spinach dip which was very cheesy and had very little spinach or artichoke in it and the cheese while it was tasty had a very similar taste to a macaroni and cheese filled flavor. As for my dinner platter I went with the local fish fried flounder along with french fries. The Flounder was very delicious and the french fries were nice Crispy Crunchy flavor to them that paired well with a flounder and sauce. Just be aware that they do not serve alcohol there so it is a BYOB but they do offer buckets end corkscrews to open up any wine bottles that you may bring with you which is very nice. ”

“ This is a great place, food tasty and beautiful views. Great service. It loses points because the restaurant is extremely tight. I know they want to get a lot of people in the dining room, but losing a table or two wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. ”

“ Ate here twice with family and enjoyed it both times. Food is delicious and the vibe is lively. I wouldn't say the view is spectacular like others have said but it's pretty cool to sit outside near the pier/dock/inlet. Wait staff is very friendly and helpful. Had the Seafood Duet one night, soft shell crab special another night (both great). Wife got Alaskan King Crab legs which were enormous and succulent. Overall, great place, highly recommended. ”

“ This might be my new favorite restaurant on the island. Pros: -they take reservations for small parties (even parties of 2!) -we were seated right away, with a reservation, but still. This is huge considering it was 4th of July weekend at dinner time -the linguini with clams and the spicy red sauce was amazing! It wasn't too spicy but had the right amount of kick. The tomatoes in it were totally fresh and went so nicely with the clams. -molten lava cake for dessert was great -reasonable pricing -excellent customer service. The waitress checked on us just enough-she wasn't hovering over us, but never left us hanging. Also, the management seemed to be respectful of their staff, no noticeable tension. -the view!!! It's right on the bay! Cons: -the acoustics were kind of weird, so having a conversation was difficult -sometimes it gets hot if you're close to the water at sunset, but hello! Beautiful view! -byob....some people like this but it would be nice to have a cocktail on the water. I was perfectly happy with my Pepsi, but I could see others wanting a cute drink menu or something. ”

“ My family and I have been coming here for over 20 years. The Boat House has one of the best views for dinning on all of LBI. The restaurant has an amazing view of the bay and if you time it right you can see the perfect sunset. The food is very good with a standard menu and daily specials. The prices are fair for the quality of food and the scenic view. It's worth trying if you are staying on the island or just visiting. The restaurant is also a BYOB. ”

“ Although I live here, I have only gone to the Boat House for buckets of delicious fried fish and yummy clams. Last night, along with my family, we dined inside. Our table for 8 was at the edge of the water with a spectacular view of the sun setting on Barnegat Bay. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. Our appetizers included Fire Cracker Shrimp, which was one of the best things I have ever tasted, Crab Guacamole- delicious, Tuna Tartare-good and pretty and crab cakes. We passed around our plates and shared all the apps, they were just that great!!!! Our entrees included the Theresa Ann Scallops- an incredible combination of saffron corn cream and sweet potato applewood bacon hash, Lobster mac & cheese which was served in a large crock- pure heaven, a cowboy steak with bleu chess butter and crispy onions-cooked perfectly, linguini and clams-so fresh, and teriyaki chicken-which was so tasty. Desserts were just ok, the key lime pie was frozen and refreshing, but I wanted the more traditional type, the kids loved the peanut butter pie! The service was excellent and the view to die for! The place is packed and they do a great job of getting you in and out without making you feel rushed. I would highly recommend The Boat House to any vacationers as well as my local friends. “ To put this in context, we went as a large group (14 people) and were seated almost immediately in this large, open air, but covered dining room on the bay. The sun was setting and the view was spectacular. The place is loud and boisterous, and like many places on LBI, is BYOB, which we didn't think about until it was too late. As a side note, it's always shocking to see people being seated carrying coolers, cases of beer, etc. Despite the crowds and the chaos, service was prompt and efficient. Our food was delivered timely and professionally. The food is a slightly different story. I had a peanut crusted Grouper special. The fish was probably fresh, but slightly overcooked and a little dry. The dish itself lacked the flavor complexity I was hoping for. My daughter had a Scallop dish on the regular menu and it was to die for. St Theresa Scallops or something like that. I also tried the Crab Cakes, which I liked but my wife didn't. She had the Tuna Tartare appy which she really enjoyed. I giving 4 stars. I won't argue with 3, but the place has such a great vibe and I'll definitely return, with wine, for another shot! ”
